Welcome to my site which will, I hope, afford you a chuckle or two.
Although born in London, I’ve been living and working in The Netherlands for the last 30 years. I began writing as a child but when, in the early 70s, Flower Power reared its enticing head I upped stakes, left England, and spent several years travelling in North Africa, Spain and France. I finally surfaced, finances seriously depleted, in Amsterdam and began my Dutch career by selling my artwork on the street and in local markets. After spending another few years struggling with the language (not the easiest one to learn), I started working as a translator. In such spare time I had, and in between raising two kids, I amused myself by writing humorous (so I’m told!) short stories and writing-related articles and interviews, many of which, to my total amazement, have been published in the UK, US, Canada and Australia and appeared in such illustrious publications as Buzzwords, Writers Cauldron, Voyage, Writers Muse, Plume, Asphyxia (AUS), Scribble and many others. My articles and interviews can also be found on various websites, including, of course, UKAUTHORS.COM, I take great delight in, and have no qualms about poking fun at the absurdity of human nature and this is reflected, I think, in my work. I’m also Chief Exec of UKAUTHORS, an online Writers’ Resource and Showcase Site.
I also run UKA PRESS, a small, independent publishing house, publishing fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

IN A WORD

About the book
Read an excerpt
'In A Word' is a joyous and abandoned foray into the world of comic verse and I have no doubt that it will entertain and delight everyone who wisely chooses to own a copy... the book reminds me of... a book of Spike Milligan poems that has accompanied me through life ever since I discovered it in my early teens and is guaranteed to cheer me up or bolster good humour...' -- John Webber, author of Slowboat to Moscow, Private Histories and Had Van Gogh Had A Day Job

'... Spanning the alphabet from A to Z, ‘In A Word’ brings together a collection of poems that can’t fail to entertain. From a philosophical ‘Kant’ to a spotty ‘Penis’ there is something here for everyone.' -- Sunken, UKA poet
